Moonshadow
Moonshadow felt the king's soft muzzle on her neck, and her skin twitched a bit as if to throw off flies. From a combination of sleepiness and minute trust, she didn't shy away from the stallion's touch. She was reassured, and felt safe. It was a nice feeling. Moonshadow inhaled deeply, and then slept.

Ooc: Hey, what happened to my post? Oh well, I'll just do it again.
Moonshadow Somewhere deep within Moonshadow's dreaming mind, she was vaguely conscious of sunlight streaming, birds chirping, and the chill of night being washed away by morning warmth. She opened her eyes languidly, blinking several times to chase the sleep from her eyes. She was startled by the position of the sun's rays sifting through the protective boughs of the towering oaks. She hastily scrambled to her feet, nearly slipping and tumbling back to the earth like a newborn foal. Hanging her head in apology, she felt ashamed of herself. She had never slept so late. Excuse my drowsiness, my lord, she said, finding Soldier's body reassuringly close to hers.

A small chuckled was made from the king's muzzle as he reached over to touch kissers with each other. No need to apologize my Moonshadow. How was your slumber? He arose from his long resting place and shook the sawd and dust off his buckskinned pelt. Giving her a faint smile, he slowly walked into the darkened woods that were nearby, whom had protected them both during the night. He nickered for her to follow as he was hungry after a long night with Moonshadow. Banner swished back and forwards to rid the tiny parasites that continued nipping and biting at his dirtied hide. Moonshadow
She twisted her neck and lifted each leg to arouse her muscles and clear her mind. It had been so long since she had slept so deeply, and she wasn't quite sure if she wanted to awake quite yet. However, she had little doubt that such nights would be plentiful in these protected lands, and walked relatively cheerfully after Soldier. Soldier's swishing tail drew attention to his coat, which was dirty and unkempt. Moonshadow's own, without a doubt, was worse from years of solitude, even though she seldom lay down to sleep. Moonshadow wanted to groom the stallion, and make his coat clean and shiny like it should be. However, she hestitated. After all, what if the other wasn't so appreciative of a grooming? She really didn't know him that well. Still, her motherly instincts told her to wash the other. Finally, she quickened her gait until she was abreast of Soldier and began nibbling at his crest, loosening the dirt.

The lord of the land accepted the lovely grooming and reached over towards her withers to rub the pasted dirt off her precious brown coat. He swished his tail once more at the flies. They seemed to never end. He thought about what might be, and what could've been. The ship and the people. He wondered if he had ever seen Moonshadow before the day before today. A smile crossed his face as he continued to groom her, not saying a word, only thinking them. Even if Moonshadow ever left him, she'd always be in his heart. There was no doubt about that. He loved her, and would protect for the rest of his days. This was his promise. [/blockquote]

Moonshadow
This land was Moonshadow's haven, her sanctuary. As she felt the gentle rub of Soldier's teeth on her withers, she tensed for a moment at the still-little-known touch of another horse, but then relaxed. As she worked on a particularily tough patch of dirt, she too let her mind wander. Even before the ship, Moonshadow had had no one. She just wandered along the foreign plains, before the rough men had thrown their ropes around her head. She didn't put up much of a fuss, for she was truly happier following orders than giving them. She was glad she had found Soldier. She wanted to start a conversation, but didn't know what to say.

The lord smiled a sweet smile towards her as he grew a bit tired. He nickered to let her know she could be done for now, and he walked out of the darkened woods and into the open meadow. Nipping at the small grass buds and nickered for her once more to follow. Giving her another sweet smile his weight shifted. Miss Moonshadow. I really hope you are happy here with me at Aspen Delta. But perhaps you'd like another mare? I don't believe in loneliness, and for sure don't want you to be lonely when and if I am away. [/blockquote]

Moonshadow
The stallion moved from under her gentle teeth, still leaving some miniscule specks of dirt that only a mare would notice. A trivial wave of panic swept over Moonshadow. Did he tire of her so soon? She was calmed slightly by his reassuring nicker. It seemed that her paranoias had been replaced by new ones. After checking for nonexistant danger, she too lowered her dished head to graze.
How would she feel to another mare? She didn't know, really. The idea both excited her and frightened her. She was still petrified of rejection. If Soldier got a new mare, then it meant that he could throw out Moonshadow and still have another mare at home with him, if Moonshadow did something wrong. But then again, the other mare could take the lead position and tell Moonshadow what to do, which was really all she wanted, to live a peaceful life and let the other horses worry about other things.
I don't know, my lord, Moonshadow answered truthfully. Then she remembered a pair of lonely foals she had seen one day. But how would you feel if I adopted a pair of twin foals?

A sweet smile came across his lips as his kissers slowly touched with hers in a love embrace. It had been a long while since he had seen any foals, and twins seemed like a bit too much to handle. Orbs met with her sapphires as he told her truthfully. I do not mind Moonshadow. But a pair of twins may be a bit to handle. We will see how it goes though. He kissed her withers and nickered softly and quietly to her. [/blockquote]

Moonshadow
She bowed her head and avoided eye contact as she spoke again, since she was already daring to be rude enough to contradict her king. My lord, they'll be more trouble if a dark picks them up and trains them in her way, she turned her head away, pawing at the tall grass nervously with one petite hoof. I will go get them, she breathed quietly, turning to leave. I'll be back in about an hour, my lord,
Ooc: Do you want me to just make a new thread after this, especially since you're bringing Free home?
